I need help!!! :(

today i accidently left the hose in the DWC turn on while i went to work!!
Thankfully my wife noticed the AP System flooding around an hour later but even so i've pretty much replaced all the water by that stage with tap water!! :naughty:

Here is a vid of what ive done to fix it... :dontknow:

For those of u who don't like vids... I've isolated the DWC with a pump and venturi circulating and added around 20L of worm tea and malasis to cultivate a good amount of bacteria to recolonize the system. I'll be putting the DWC back online with the rest of the system in the morning and within a couple of hours it will have cycled through the whole system... hopefully saving the fish and the plants!

Thanks mate. It's all sorted now. The fish and plants seem to be doing fine.

You'd be surprised how much water you can add to your system before it causes issues. Glad all is ok.

I always use timers now because I used to forget about 50% of the time.

The tap is always on but is controlled by a mechanical timer. When I want to add water I just turn the timer for 15mins, 30 mins or whatever. That way I never leave it on and waste water.

One of the reasons you can add a lot of water to your system is because when it starts overflowing what overflows is not 100% old system water because some of the new goes out as well. Even in a really small system it would take a very long time to replace more than 50% of the water. You get the same effect in CHOP 2 systems which is one of the reasons why they are not such a good idea.
