Added the plumbing for siphon and drains. Used 2" pvc pipe per suggestion by DB.

All are currently being tested for leaks and running as continuous flood, except for the 2nd bed from left has a cap on the siphon to test the flood and drain.

There seems to be a leak in the 90 going up from the outlet. I was thinking this doesn't have a lot of pressure so wouldn't leak, but am finding otherwise. I will have to dry and silicone the outside to prevent the leaks.

The beds with the plumbing in place

The flow isn't that fast, but it's triggering the siphon

Does anyone have suggestions for fish to stock in Southern CA (Orange County) and where to find it? I currently have Tilapia, which is the only one I can easily find.

Thanks all for your suggestions thus far. Next will be cleaning up the lava rock for the grow beds.

Hey Rod - my original plan was to use a swirl filter, similar to this youtube vid below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_h-WEZW5kE

What I found was that the flow rate was too fast to allow for solids to swirl and settle in the bucket. I could have taken the bucket out and let it swirl in the barrel, but decided against it. I'm now using the RFF and it's doing the job for me.

Hi lazdoggy

It all depends on price from your end. That "T" will be fine if the price is ok for you. You will need two for each tank except the first one. Keep the top open to produce a siphon break so the drains do not draw down past the bends.
