Had a little issue with the heater. I had a air pocket in the end and it caused the heater to overheat and melt/burn the PVC which then caused the PVC to fail and short out the heater underwater. Total time from plugging in to circuit breaker tripping was 10-15 minutes.

The temp controller I am working on I have used to do Sous Vide before the probe goes into fishy water.

Yesterday was scrambled eggs and today was a few hamburgers that wanted to be more like meatballs. They went from flat to round and still cooked all the way through.

Temp was 65*c for 2 hours.

I will be in your neck of the woods this week. I wish I had time to meet, but I am flying in on Wednesday, Garmin is taking me to dinner, then the next day I am touring their factory in Olathe, taking part in some focus group thing, then flying out at 4:00 pm.

That's a shame. Would have loved to meet you. I live 15 minutes from the airport.

I didn't know Garmin had a office in St. Louis. The Kansas plant I have friends that work there that I meet going to hacker space in KC http://www.c3kc.org when I was in college.

I forgot I took this pic. Was holding temp at 50*c without any issues. It put a lot of moisture in the dry air of the house.

I need to work on the enclosure for the electronics to be a bit more waterproof. Now Just laying on the barrel top exposed to the elements to see how well it works.

Last night I was playing with the temp controller and was able to keep the temp fairly constant in the outside fish tank at 25*C with the outside temp at 13*C.

The plans for the next few weeks is to finish the system for start up next year.

I checked around and I can get the Aquamax 4000 for $27.51 after tax. This is for a 50lb or 22.7kg bag. I paid over $16 for 3 lbs or 1.4kg and that lasted 8 months. Looks like I can have fun with the seal-a-meal.

Playing with the heater some more. Water went from 8.6 to 9.8 in a hour and a half. Not sure if this is good or not in terms of temp increase. 350ish gallon uninsulated tank outside in 7 degree weather.

Worked on the growbed frame over the weekend. Pier blocks like the fish tank. Leveled and partly assembled. Cross members will be done today and the plumbing of that other blue barrel sometime this week.

Growbed frame is doneish. I did a wet test yesterday by just filling the IBC halfs 1,500 lbs of water total. frame still kept level.

The system is drained right now and 14 gold fish are in with the two large fantail and two plecos. i needed to do the blue barrel before i made the frame. still needs to be cut, dug deeper and plumbed to the sump.

I have too much money into mine. Your temp controler maybe cheaper by 10-15 and is in *F I am adding lights and other things to it.
