I don't see that the autopot has the advantage in distance that plants can be from the fish tank. Autopots can be a long way from the FT because of a long pipe. Growbeds can be a long way from the fish tank by way of two long pipes.

Hi,

I've been inspired by the discussion on autopots to the point where I'm going to drag mine out and dust them off.

Of particular interest, is the material that I read on the autopot site about using a variety of media......including potting soil......so I'll be trying coarse coco peat.

When I first bought my autopots (several years ago), perlite was the recommended medium and special nutrients were required.......all of which conspired to make them too expensive to operate.

NJH......thanks for the look at your arrangement. I hadn't though in terms of using them in that way.

I'm keen to see if the biofilm stays under control.

Gary

Hi,

How 'bout we move the debate on enterprise someplace else.......like "A Few Thoughts on Enterprise" There are one or two observations that I just can't resist.

Stuart after you see the setup at garden world you will see you can run 100 plants 300 meters away on a 1/2 line cost maybee $30 you cant run 4 grow beds 300 metres away with 100 plants for that price

Just read your post NJH and thought if you had said that in your first post a lot less fun would have been had by all. Smile

It's what my wife calls angry chimp syndrome. One person over reacts, and then party allegiances come out and everyone jumps up and down hooting.

I think it is an instinctive reaction to a perceived threat. I am clearly a perceived threat - which is very funny for those that have met me :)

My theory predicts that you would say that too.
