Does anyone have any good ideas on the way to grade my fish, I have 23 trout ranging from about 15 to 25cm.
I have twin ibc fish tanks so I want to put the smaller half in one by themselves so they can get a better share of the food.
I'm just looking for others experiences or methods in this.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice

well I hadn't updated this for awhile so here goes :wave1:

caught some of the smaller fish today and moved them into the second FT so that I can get some more feed into them, I don't think that I will get much of a feed out of these guys, started a bit late in the season and I think the temps will get the better of me before they are really eating size.

Water levels are a bit high but I have 6 parts salt in the there so fish should be fine, they are still smashing the feed.

had a good feed of kale and silverbeet, not to mention "regrown" spring onions and garlic chives.
My rhubarb is a bit yellow and i'm not sure weather its from the salt or from a lack of Iron but i'm not really into stuffing around with it all the time ( splash of sea-sol excluded) so I'll just keep feeding and hope for the best with it as all the other plants are doing ok.

Grow beds are filling up with gum nuts, which i'm guessing will screw with the PH eventually.

All good, can still see that things are looking pretty good! Fingers crossed you can pump loads of feed into the trout in the next few months!!!

System water was close to 20° yesterday and is still 18 this morning, the trout still feed like crazy but I'm worried that ill run out of trout season earlier than I thought.

On a different note scored two more IBC's. Possibilities are endless.

Have you had any luck trying to extend the season with ice? I'm going to fill a bunch of juice bottles ans swap them back a forwards from the deep freezer to see if I can get some more feed into them as some of mine a tiny still.
might use one of the new ibcs to house my rainbows n danios from inside and keep a couple of the smallest ones in the 6 ft tank in the lounge room.

water temp is down to 17c this evening, nitrite is still up at 0.5 ppm which is I think because of all the uneaten food I found under the rhubarb plant I just pulled out and moved to the other bed.

I have about 200 trout going well in Adelaide. Temp got to 24 so far, the hottest. I plan to have pumps turned off to GB's for the hottest part of the day and let it cool down a little b4 turning it back on, maybe 6 - 7 hrs :)

Its at 25 i start to worry some :/

Cheers mate.
bought 12 lt of juice and told the kids to knock themselves out will get them full of water and frozen tomorrow. Hopefully that will let me extend the feeding season a little.
The water was 20c and they still smashed their arvo feed, I dont think I'll isolate the grow beds as I had the power out for a day the other week and my plants looked like sh! T.

Thanks Jay, I'll have a look for it, if nothing else the kids will be happy drinking all the juice.
