eErm No
I missed phrased that.
A hewer of wood ,a carpenter, a cabinet maker and an artisan would wear a tunic ‘ with a skirt’
A learned man of letters would wear a long tunic, dress.
Erm I am digging myself into a hole here I had better stop

The naming of beverages fermented with honey can get rather specific.

Honey and fruit (Lemon) brewed together is often called Melomel but when brewed with grapes (raisins) Pyment.

Either way the inclusion of the lemon and/or the raisins means that its not mead :P

You just couldn't help yourself could you Stuart? :D
Good to see you buddy. :wave1:

Thanks for the kind words, hope NZ is treating you and yours well.

Hey Bodge, All good this side thanks for asking mate. Our container arrived on Tuesday so our house, which was empty and had an echo, is now bulging at the seams with furniture and boxes which still need to be unpacked.

Very nice to have all our stuff but still a few weeks before everything settles down into a rhythm and our space is set up in the way we want it.
Enjoying the life here, much more relaxed and easy going than where I was. Work is a little stressful as I am doing a lot of technical work in areas I haven't been in before but that also means I am upskilling which is good for my CV.

Regards, The Dude. :D

Back home i brewed quite a reasonably cider using one of the leading supermarkets pure apple juice, just poured it into a large bin using Champagne yeast, when it was fermented and racked off,i added more apple juice as a sugar source to gas it when it was in the bottles, chilled it was quite pleasant.
Titus the apple juice was only 50p a litre from Sainsburys so a cheapish brew as well.

Not a lot of note happening in my system at the moment.
I'm having trouble getting seeds started and some varieties won't even germinate in soil (which is getting a bit old). Not real keen on buying seedlings.
Aphids arrived and I ripped out the remaining kale to get rid of them, beans and peas are doing well.

The bream are quite happy in there so I took a video at feed time and really should have turned off the pump and air to get a clearer image.
Since I have no other news I thought I'd share it. :)

Reminds me of a JFK conspiracy video - my favourite was the bream on the grassy knoll. :D

:blackeye: Okay, I'll sort out some decent footage then.
After you mentioned that I had another look and I'm sure I saw Bigfoot striding past too!
Really fighting the urge to net the fish out and weigh them. I know it wouldn't be great for them so I guess I'd better not...

Still can't get any decent footage since the only camera I can use underwater is an old security cam I sealed up that has IR LEDs. The rain has left too many suspended particles in the water and the light reflects back onto the into the lens blocking vision. The water seems very clear until I sink the camera into it.

The good news though is I have been offered an inoperative ice cream freezer from a shop as a new FT for free!
Somewhere between 600L and 800L at a guess, not sure how to reconfigure the system to incorporate it and some new Gbs but looking forward to picking it up tomorrow.
The scrapyard theme is back baby!
I've been using a chest freezer with an external thermostat as a fridge (much more energy efficient than a conventional fridge) so I might turn my fridge into GBs. Waste of a usable appliance perhaps but I want it out of my kitchen and need more media volume. And yep, really want the scrapyard thing happening.
My tiny backyard will soon be nothing but FTs and GBs.

Since I've caught a bunch of spangled perch on my last fishing trip, once the additions are plumbed up I'll go catch some and begin the trial with them.
They were really fat and in spawning condition so interesting developments might be possible with them too. Not that I really want 100,000 eggs to deal with...

I found Spangled killed each other, but maybe that's just as it was in a 300l ft with three, so probably not a comparison.

I've just started using an old freezer for a DWC tank, and have just secured 4 more, bring on the scrap yarding !

Thanks for your feedback on the Spangled Perch Bcasey. Hopefully with a higher number of fish they won't form territories and kill each other. When I was fishing for them, little groups would occasionally cruise the shallows together so I hope they don't get too vicious with each other. If they do I'll just harvest the lot and replace them with something more sensible. (I hate being sensible... )

Well I've got the massive thing home and now I'm wondering how something that size can only be 600L?
It is fairly slim though so I guess that's why.
Unfortunately it isn't fibreglass inside so I'll have to seal it with something to make sure it's leak proof and to prevent the chances of the aluminium looking liner leaching into the water.
Since the sliding glass lids are tempered glass I'm tempted to use them for a double glazed window in the front wall of the tank perhaps.
It's a bit ugly right now but during the holidays (when I'll have more of an idea of my finances) I'll make some movement into modding it to suit me better.
