If you want to try an extension on your standpipe and flood the bed to plant - might work - works with scoria but that floats slightly.

I love the colour of the bricks

Some updates. Running out of nutrients because the fish are so small but I just added a 1lb tilapia from another system.

I found beans and capsicums harder to grow than most things.

pH has stayed around 8.2 but the beans are doing great. Hopefully once some more waste is being produced the pH will decline. The are pieces of mortar in the mix that could be contributing to the high pH

Haven't had much time to maintain this system but the plants and fish are very healthy. Some plants such as the basil and kale struggle in the brick because the pH is constantly at 8.2 due to the mortar pieces.

Also there is a lot of clay that is creating a muddy environment in the media.

PH still at 8.2 and we accidentally hit the system with the Bobcat :( but everything is still thriving no deficiency symptoms except for iron which we have added (dtpa)Image
