I can have trout all year.

Partly because of the cooler climate than most of the rest of you and partly because of the thermal mass of my system.

The bare patches on the left is where the lettuce was that I riped out last week. The right side that is going to seed I've left in to mostly give the adult lacewings a feed source. The exception is the kale which I plan to keep for seed. I've got about 60 tomato, 20 cucumber, 12 zuccini, pumpkin, various melons and capsicum seedlings coming on. Beans and corn have been already been sown directly in the beds or transplanted.

Even with the greenhouse my real spring/summer season starts a lot later than most people. Day before yesterday we had a heavy frost and the nights are rather cold.

Congrats on the middle bed that you'd been wanting to do for ages - feels good I bet :)

So with thermal mass ... The Baw Baw community gardens has a buried 4.2k tank - its exposed on top to sun and the IBC growbeds will get some heat, but realistically how long do you think the trout would live for and vise versa - how long do you think the silver perch would keep eating.

I'm trying to figure out a way to buy perch in nov and have them run with trout in april

To be frank I don't know :dontknow:

I know my area and I know trout. Other than redfin which I found impractical due to weaning issues I don't know much about other fish except from a theoretical basis. I've stayed away from all the Australian natives because our winter temperatures are so cold.

I want to get a handful of blackfish for the raft tank to control snails though.

I was talking to Ian the other day though and he knew someone in Geelong that had an outdoor system who had kept trout through last summer :dontknow:

I don't know much about fiber glass or installing spas or baths.

Does the bottom of the bath need to be supported?

Single center support should do the trick,a lot of baths have wood glassed into the bottom for support,if it doesn’t just run a piece along the length for the centre support.

Well after milling all morning I was hot, dusty and ready for a break. Quick lunch, a bit of a read to relax and then having cooled off back to the mill.
