Hello,
Been lurking for a bit, but first post. We have a successful test system with an aquarium in the living room with goldfish since June. Switching to tilapia and building a bigger system. (Of course  )
Also waiting for my trout stocking permit to add that too (same grow room but separate IBC).

Question about tilapia though, we all hear about their tropical warm water requirements and all, but I would like to know, in real life, what temperature do you actually keep yours at (Not talking about a quick down, but the normal winter temperature of your system)? And what kind are they and life stage are they at? Fingerlings? Adults? Are they breeding? Are they growing?

I have Niles (whites). My plan was to start my IBC at 78 or so and slowly bring it down to 72 hopefully and monitor them to see how they handle that.

You won't have any issues at 72. Mine were about three months old last year and they survived in water that was about 50 degrees. They didn't make the winter, but I know for sure they will live pretty well at 72.

My whites where still eating in the upper 60's, but slowed down from above 74-75. They seem happiest at 82-85, but will take upper 60's from what I've seen.
