I had a beautiful crop of Chard that started last Winter and some are still growing. None have ever bloomed? I was hoping to get seeds and replant, but was forced to buy some new seed. I'm not a big fan, but I have some friends and it sells well at the local CSA. Just wondering if anyone has had luck collecting seeds.

If the air is warm enough, it will always go to seed in a single growing season here, in dirt or AP. I wish I had to wait 2 years! The leaves are not as nice once it has gone to the flowering stage, and I generally use those plants to feed the chooks, before eventually pulling them and replanting new seedlings.

It was in the mid 90's for the last several months...is that warm enough? All my chard except 2 have died off, with no blooms. I already seeded 4-50 more, so I'm goo for this Fall/Winter. Just thinking ahead as this seems to be a very sought after crop in my area. I like the very young leaves raw, but it's not my favorite. Then again, neither is Kale, but the locals seem to flock to it also??

Very strange, I've got chard going to seed now, and its only been up to about 30C once ths spring, and that chard was planted in autumn this year. I have large quantities of seed saved from the chard in the dirt garden, which all seeded in under a year.
