I have some wild caught bream, bluegill, largemouth bass and channel catfish in a 220 gal Ibc w 2-5 gal swirl filters a 30 gal bio filter, 55 gal sump tank and 4-55gal half barrels w lava rock 2/3 then layer of pea gravel on top 1/3. Everything has been fine all summer but I have noticed a fuzz on my fish all of em that is white. They are very healthy and my parameters are perfect. I lost a few back in the summer but none in the last month and a half I'd say.
I'm pretty sure it's a fungus of some sort. I use melafix on my inside fish for this problem. Is it safe for AP system?

The standard treatment seems to be adding SALT to treat what I assume to be ICH..
I've read countless comments on what others have done and how..


I doubt that it would be good for anything you intend to eat..

How do I calculate what is too much salt? I read that if you use too much you harm your bacteria.

I treated yesterday w half dose of melafix and about a 1/3 of a box of aquar salt. The box treated 220 gal. I didn't want to over do it. My scaled fish didn't seem to have the stuff on em last night but some of the cats did. So just waiting now. I would still love to know how to calculate the salt to water ratio. I usually just figure things out for myself but it has been a battle getting to this point lol thx in advance.

1kg per 1000 litres equal 1ppt.
