That made me laugh...

And i would like to add this still makes me laugh, if you can hear the salmon, hold your breath.

I Had a friend who only got 28k over their copper. Apparently the line was shared or something. But I found them a satellite plan that comes with something like 500 meg of data (I think it was some minimum that Telstra had to supply to everyone that wanted it), but it shaped to 64k which was much better than they got over the phone. From memory it was $20 a month or something.

Lots of pages would time-out on their copper line, but on satellite, at least they could read email, and forums. It was very reliable as well.

If you really are only getting 30k, you could double your speed :)

That was the old pair gain system, they used to split the bandwidth. I eventually had to complain to the Ombudsman only took nine months or so. :)

in our neck of the woods, there were a set number of "boxes" in the local exchange thinggy. The Uber telco had to on-sell any free "switchy" things to any other providers, but didnt need to upgrade their existing systems, so unless you were with the Uber provider (telstra), you didnt get access. I know this because we had a tech work on our connection for 3 (THREE !) days. We fed him and coffee(d) him and loved him as one of our own. The result was we got to understand all the key words that lead to free internet for 2 entire years ( minus one accidental month payment, and one "get out of contract free" month at the end.

I think that's what the delays were about with my recent woes.

Eh?

I don't understand much of what you write, me.

I apologise to anyone who has decided to read this entire thread from the start because it looked like it might be worthwhile as a pace to learn some stuff. On the up side, it only took a few days to read, and you probably have time to look at someone else's thread before you commit to building a system.

I wonder if this thread is why my mum refuses to install an aquaponics system in her backyard?

Can anyone see anything wrong with adding a bird bath to my system?

Birds are starting to use my sump as a watering hole, and I thought they might enjoy a bath as well.

Are there any disease issues?

My blog bought 2x180w solar panels. And the company is sending me another two for free in a month's time to compare some different tech.

Yay!

My epic Murray River adventure is going to finally happen. Then my system is going off grid.

Double Yay!
