They may be able to point you to a fishery in your area, or you can drive there, it's on the outskirts of Lafayette.

I used Arkansas pond stockers and although we ordered 100 fish we ended up losing about a hundred before we got rid of the ick that they came with.once we got the ick taken care of and the water cleared up we found that they had actually gave us about 175 channel cat and about a dozen brim which i caught a put in my sump tank.(I love the brim because the kids will go out and look for bugs on the plants just to feed them....Very aggressive !!!) I think they gave us more fish because they are not certified against sickness where as stockmypond is

I cant speak for the quality of APS and there are certainly some bad fish farms out there. But any fish can get ich, they are particularly susceptible when stressed such as during transportation. Also very hot or very cold temperatures during transporting causes additional stress. You can decrease stress during transport by limiting/blocking light exposure.

Once you are done transporting, avoid drastic water changes specifically in relation to PH and Temperature. You can ease stress and help the fish rebuild it's protective slime coat with salt. people on this forum usually say 3 ppt which is a good place to start. any salt without an anti caking agent should be ok.

I met the dunns truck in shreveport for 100 crappie earlier this year (documented in my feed training crappie thread) and transported them another 200 miles back to dallas. Crappie are pretty much the most sensitive fish to handling and i only lost 1 of the 100 due to transport and i think his cause of death was probably he got pinched into the corner of the bag when i slid it into the ice chest.
