Nice going Theron. I like the cages, what kind of vegetable predators do you get there? ;-)

Opossums, raccoons, and various birds. There may be something a bit smaller out there too, so I may have to take some lethal action on them if the eating continues after this.

I think tripwires with grenades is your best option. :D

I just google imaged "Opossums", they're cute looking little things.

Lucky you. Possums are protected here, no killing, but i think relocating is allowed.

Opossums and possums are two very different animals. Though, you will hear most Americans just say possum when referring to opossums. Though in my household, they get called Kylie, after the opossum in the Wes Anderson film Fantastic Mr. Fox, based on the Roald Dahl book.

Hey Theron. Welcome home and the pics of the system look good. Despite those darn varmints!

Question though. I've seen others do it, but how did you get so many large pics on one thread posting? Is it a old Chinese secret?

Thanks,

Looking for a bit of feedback. I want to increase my output of lettuce and am willing to modify the system or expand a little bit in order to do it. I have been browsing the forums and internet to see how I can tweak the system in order to do so. Rather than keep looking endlessly I'd like to ask some of you for feedback.

Which setup is best to produce lettuce and other various greens for salads?

I'm really enjoying the pipe system I expanded with.
Cups and stones and holes and its easy to harvest - just pull out and take indoors.
Check out my 'Barrels in the greenhouse thread'

Just took a look at it and I like it. I also like the solar powered light you have in your grow bed. I will be sure to get me some of those for mine.

Ok so I look some advice and figured out a way to add it to the system without too much hassle.

It leaves me with one question though. Does the water have to touch the bottom of the cups as it flows through the pipe? If so I still have more work to do.

Anyway, a few photos if the new addition and the rest of the garden. ImageImageImageImageImageImage

I'm no expert, but I think your angle is too strong. Having a slighter angle will allow you to then install an elbow piece in the last hole before the water goes out that you can turn and adjust the height - high when seedlings are small. See blind freddy's thread - you will need a cap on the end.

Easy fix
Plant your plants in the cups with rocks and bury in the growbeds - when they establish roots pull them out (cup and all) and place into holes.

Rayon mop strings can wick up enough water for your plants to get established too.
