Every time I feel an earthquake, I am grateful. Without uplift, erosion would win, and our world would be temporarily covered in a shallow sea. I say temporarily because without a molten core, we would have no magnetosphere. Without a magnetosphere, most of the atmosphere would be burned off from solar flares. Then Earth would be just like Mars.

Thanks PJ, I really appreciate your comments. Things are starting to fall into place, the first week was rough with jet lagged kids and most of us getting sick. The weather was also horrendous with heavy rain and driving winds. Things are on the up though with some sunshine and everyone getting used to a very different environment and way of life. Just waiting for our container to arrive with our worldly goods! :D That will probably be another 4 weeks.

Regards, Martin.

Whilst netting one of the smaller tilapia to put in my indoor system, I noticed some of my tilapia are definitely harvest ready. I will have to harvest some soon, and post some pics.

So its really kind of a surprise for you each time you really check in the FT because they breed at different rates and when you harvest we're talking about a maybe 4 out of the bunch since they are all different sizes? I can't wait till I get to a point where I can read about tilapia more, I know that will be my choice but not even educated much yet.

Can't wait to see whats for dinner at the Maggi house!

Looking forward to seeing some harvest pics Ron. Are the ladies in your house okay with turning them into lunch?

They know they are food. The only names I allowed are names like Ceviche, Taco, and And Chips.

You can't call the fish "and chips". Makes no sense Ron. You're going to have to explain.

"Dad what is this I am eating?"
"And chips."
"what and chips?"
"Just 'and chips'."
"What?"
"It's fish."
"But you said it was chips."

Is this just to confuse family members? :D

As in fish Taco, the fish part is implied. So if someone asks what we were eating, we would say, "Our fish, And Chips."

But if your fish is called "And chips" then when you say you are having "Our fish, And Chips." then you are having two portions of fish?

I'll have to remember And Chips. I will call my Alpha male stud fish that. It will confuse the hell out of everybody.

Lol. You are stereotyping Ron! :D
I thought with you being an American that you don't eat chips? Isn't fries or crisps?

In South Africa we have "chips" which are crisp potato chips and then we have slaptjips (slapchips) pronounced "slup" which are french fries directly translated as "floppy chips". :D

Here in New Zealand fish and chips is a very popular take away meal and we often get it on a Saturday night if we don't feel like cooking.

They are always called fries here, except when served with fish, then they are chips.
