This is the current design for an RFF. The barrel would be a bit higher to allow for siphoning solids out.

I think the 100mm or 150mm pipe in the middle of the barrel will slow the flow enough to not make the water bubble up too high, plus the return to fishtank throttle.

I've bought some items also:
Hailea HAP-80 air pump
Laguna Maxflo 11k
a tossing up weather to make my home system use the big gel battery that I bought from Jaycar or some alarm batterys a mate gave me. 7ah vs 38ah.

So what's the next project after this one, your school one are complete?

I don't think you've got much more available room at home to expand?

School one isn't finished - still expanding.

Yarragon Community Gardens want an AP at the Fozzygobble Sustainability Network Cafe. One of my students is the project leader for this.

Big day this Saturday - need to get the plumbing worked out.

the 4 growbeds furthest away from the fish tank - run them into a 100mm pipe sloping back to fish tank.
the 3 closest ones - straight down into fish tank
Will use 25mm standpipes

Pump up to growbeds - this is the part I'm not sure of....

Should I run straight up from tank and then horizontal across back of growbeds with exit points T'ed off and taps?
Or should I run under growbeds and T off into a vertical piece for each growbed?

Okay after some discussion on Fbook - the plan is to hide the pipes under the growbeds in the space.

32mm from pump

I was contemplating 40mm because its a big pump and then stepping down to 40/25mm or 40/32mm T's and then rise up to taps.

25mm out of growbeds into 25mm uniseals with an elbow incase I want to do siphones (90 or 100mm return pipe)

should I put the tap hidden away from curious hands (on the riser)?

Here is the plan view I have so far.

As you can see I couldn't fit a 7th IBC grow bed over the round section of the tank so I'm going to try round Barrels which can have some dwarf fruit trees maybe.

The rockwall (pointed out by Iceman) looks fantastic - built by volunteers with guidance from a stonemason.

Going to put a lock on fish tank lid today - barrel bolt.

:flower:
