Liner had a dodgy lap where I left a flap below the water line, so had to drain and reiposition the liner. The under deck tank has been getting a workout with emptying and filling. Tank us 2000 Lt and there is another 1500lt additional so I think the pond is a approx 3500Lt

Also had some rocks delivered today!

Those rocks look like fun to lug around!

Just curious, with the piping penetrating the liner, how did the guy recommend doing that? Were there any special methods?

Looks good.

I had to ask a couple of builders working next door to help moving two of them, the rest are luggable (just)

They showed me a couple of methods for penetrating pipes. The first and optimal method is to use a hole punch. The diameter of the punch should be approx 1/3 (no more than 1/3) the size of the pipe to go through. He said to check the edges of the cut to ensure that they are perfectly rounded, if they are jagged they can cause a tear. He also showed me how to do this with scissors. Once the hole is cut you just pull the liner over the pipe . Will take some happy snaps when I do the install. He also said to make sure that the liner has enough slack to take up the water before cutting. If the weight of the water pulls downwards it can also tear.

This applies to Butyl liner. Not sure about other products.

And thanks!

I would not be allowed to set it up like that.

On a hot day, I'd have a soaking wet labrador charging into the house shaking everywhere and determinted to get on my lap.

Does the liner come with some sort of glue to attach to the pipe? Or just kept in place with the liner stretching?

lol, wet dogs are likely to be a hazard. We have polished concrete slab floor and leather couches.. all of which are pretty robust. Time will tell.

No glue required. The stretching over the pipe creates a seal in much the same way as a uniseal. Important that the liner is stretched over the pipe from the water side to maintain the seal.

Safe to say that the liner is holding water, left him full to the brim for 14 hours and no drop in level which means I can plumb it all up and start rocking it in.

I wanted a K1 bio barrel setup, only thing is I cannot find a supplier in Melbourne? Any thoughts, I want 50 lt of the stuff.

I think I might experiment with this technique for the pond liner. I've got some spare lying around.

How big of a hole do they use (for what pipe?)?

Pipe penetration instructions: http://www.beutyliner.com.au/installati ... etrations/

The pipe penetrations can be done using this method for any highly flexible rubber liner such as Butyl or EPDM. It is advisable to leave some liner slack under the pipe to allow for settling.
