I dragged this out of my FT tonight, at first I thought is was a weed or grass stalk, but it looks like clear jelly? albeit with poopy bits on the end which makes me think its fish poop, anybody see stuff like this?

Was about 350 to 400mm long.

also I have seen what looks like foamy bits floating around on previous occasions looked a bit like jelly fish.

My first thought is always EWWW WORM!! And then I'm
Paranoid for days that it's a tapeworm and I'm going to be on an episode of Embarrassing Bodies in 6 months time because I touched it. But I also have an irrational fear of zombies and many other things - I digress.
It's probably poo...
There is probably a muuuuuch slimmer fish swanning around the tank now :-)

I don't think that would be fecal matter. If it's visually undifferentiated (can't see organs) and not moving, I'd guess maybe an attempt at egg-laying? Not seen roe roped out like that but maybe one had an impaction that moved?

Those look like an ornamental goldfish of some sort.

What does egg laying look like? the other day there was sort of foamy stuff floating around looked like jello or such?

gold fish are breeding as there were little ones appearing, but I have less stuff for them to hide eggs in now so maybe it just floats around?

Earlier this year a friend had a similar problem with his cichlid fish. It varied between pooping clear or whitish poop. Apparently clear poop can be caused by a fish not eating for a while, but that wasn't the case for his fish.

Turned out it was a parasitic infection of some sort, although he started treating it too late so it wasn't successful.

I always thought goldfish ploop out obviously looking eggs, but I could be wrong about that.
