I'm using your build as a reference for AP students at my school - very neat and tidy

I never lost SP overnight in Kalgoorlie, they are quite hardy.

Thanks for ur replies I'm going to test my water and see what I come up with, thanks jayendra I'll take that as a compliment [WINKING FACE], I'm very green to this and am pretty much winging it lol, it's a very lo cost build, all I have payed for is the pvc, pump, plants and fish. If I can get this to work successfully I will continue to add to this system.

Yeah what Kat said, levels are important. 5ppm on nitrite seems a bit high should be more like 0.5 to 0. Hope they are lower now.
Gold fish are quite tough and also you added them at the beginning so they had more time to get used to the levels.
Fish are not keen on rapid changes.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I haven't tested water yet but will aim to over the weekend, I have placed an aeration stone in the tank this arvo and the two remaining SP swam straight to it and are hovering around the stone, I'm now wondering if it is an aeration issue. In regards to my water test results I posted earlier I drained and replaced 30% of the water. Then tested water again a day after changing the water Nitrite was 2.0ppm and Nitrate was 10 ppm. Haven't tested since then though.
