Tuscaloosa here. As another member stated, I'm in the developmental stage and planning my layout. I hope to be set up come early spring. I was hoping to find someone close by with a system already established to help get my system cycled once I'm up and running. We have a 7-8 acre lake directly in front of my home stocked with bass, brim, crappie, catfish, and a couple other species, any way I can use the water from our lake to help get started with cycling?

From Shelby County, AL and I am also in the development phase, but I think I will always be in the development stage.

:)

Will be actually dropping some tilapia in the system next week, from a local hatchery.

I have property that's about 35 miles south of Montgomery on HWY 331. That's where I do my building for my AP system. Now live in Orlando FL but come back up to the AL property about every 2 months for 2-3 weeks. Anyone who wants to come down to the AL location and to see how I set it up and how to run the system, let me know. I've had a system running for a couple of years. I use IBC totes. Wood trim for tanks and growbeds. Slat lid for fish tank. Free standing metal frame(1" sq tube and 1 1/2" angle) for growbed above fish tank.

Next trip back to AL will be September, 2014.

Hello, I'm in North Alabama in Joppa just outside of Arab. And about 25 miles from Cullman. I ran across the site while searching for a plastic grow troughs. Soon as it is dry run of I will be putting up what I call a modified hoop greenhouse in which by next year I hope to be running an Aquaponic Garden. With floating trays.

Hello,

I am in Tuscaloosa, and I am trying to get a system started. I am looking for some blue tilapia, or some other good fish for my system. I have been cycling it with gold fish for a couple months and I am trying to find a local supply for the fish. Does anyone know of a farm that would sell me a small amount (preferably tilapia) to get started with somewhere near Tuscaloosa?

Thanks,
Josh

Dothan Al. Bought a 40' green house Friday from a feed and garden center going out of business in Abbeville, AL. I had to turn away from the guy and grin like the Cheshire cat when he said he wanted $200. Came with 2 exhaust fans and 2 intake fans and enough shade cloth to line the whole floor and cover the house. It will take me a week to get it down by myself after work. I know what I want to do but I still have so many questions. I want to put a small in ground pond in the green house but I have no idea how many grow beds it will maintain at the size I want to build(4'x4'x15' or bigger). At that size, 1795 gal., I assuming I'll be safe with around 500-600 blue catfish. I just don't know how much grow bed space I can support with that much water or if I'm going over board with size of the pond/tank. I know I'm ready and excited for the change. I already keep a 70'x30' garden now, and am so tired of tilling and weeding and fighting horn worms, stinkbugs and squirrels.
