In the interest of KISS I'm moving to a CF system, at least to start, with my new tank. I know it's suboptimal but system heights will not let me do any single-pump CHIFT system without burying the sump pretty deep.

Does anyone have advice on plants that do particularly well with continuously wet feet? I am testing right now and I can already see that my peppers don't like it any. This is in about a 300mm deep mix of ECA and pea gravel. Thanks in advance for any info! I

If things seem to be unhappy it might be worth lowering your water height a bit?

So far everything I've put in has been happy with CF. I've got silverbeet, kale, broccoli, cabbage, onions, garlic, radish, peas, beetroot, celery, brussel sprouts, pineapple sage and a variety of lettuces and everything is fine. I'm also experimenting with some carrots and so far they have been growing well.

I think you mean Continuous Flood; you can grow anything in Continuous Flow. :)

There's the n00b stamp on my forehead

Thanks for all the suggestions! It was only the peppers that didn't seem to like it but honestly the peppers in the dirt aren't happy either (padron peppers - was really looking forward to having some, too!) so I wasn't sure whether to attribute it to the CF. We are just a couple months from greens and brussel sprouts season so I might just give those a shot.

Pepper are probably the only thing I noticed that didn't like it. I can never make peppers happy anyway so I grow twice as many. The roots tend to congregate at the top more which can make it a little more difficult when pulling plants and starting new ones. I don't think the worms are as happy either.

Something that I have found works wonders in a continuous flooded system is Chinese Water Chestnuts. That and the Taro. The Taro likes gravel media, but the water chestnuts seems to prefer soil. I have two systems, and the chestnuts that are growing in soil are doing the best. But it could also be that there is a lot of nutrient in the soil as it has been in operation for 2 years.
