I still consider myself a noob and am still sucking up info mainly from the experienced and knowledgeable characters on this forum, it's all about listening with an open mind, accepting advice and acting on it.
The kale is from some of my first plantings and is collecting spiders at the mo, my partner likes it in smoothies but it's more a visual veggie to me... I'm thinking the stem will get sunburnt this summer but we'll see.
I've just harvested the broccoli from the bb commissioned in late April. I'll wait for the side shoots to produce before I cut the plants and transfer some tomato cuttings from last season. I am impressed with the quantity of produce in such a small area, they were planted as seedling punnets in May. Although not large heads, I choose to call them gourmet broccoli.
The smallest rt in the big tank is going to be dinner soon as it's a deformed one with back issues and has started to do laps in the bottom corner.

Well Stumpy's brother is in the fridge marinating in our fave vegemite, netted out with his mates trying to help him. I have no doubt they all have a close friendship with each other, silly I know but it's what I have observed.
Not overly large and no fat reserves in the gut interestingly as I thought it was still eating. Feel a bit guilty however I'm sure the feeling will pass after dinner tomorrow.

Anyway sorry again for the toes and will try to be more careful in the future...

Skeg - Please share how you do the Vegemite marinate. Sounds delicious! (it will make up for the toes!)

Did you plant the broccoli as one punnet ? Do you think they headed smaller because of spacing or because of AP?

Gabe, I just smother the fish in Vegemite maybe bit of honey and garlic before smoking. A mate told me about smothering a whole chook before roasting said it was the bomb. Yet to try this.
Jay, yes one punnet. Smaller heads perhaps due to the gb's youth? The larger, older beds broccoli has larger heads but they were scattered seeds. They also grew faster but that could come down to the strain.
Kat, thanks. Just wanted to show what could be achieved in a short time in a small gb. IMO it's the density of planting that is most impressive in ap.

Spring already, time flies.
I had an update saved in drafts but it seems to have gone walkabout.
Damn.
Changed the pump in the small sys from a 4kl to a 1.5kl due to water issues because the extra water with the larger pump was being returned to the ft without filtration, things seem to be clearing up now. Bigger pumps aren't always better.
This winter is the best producing season to date plenty of broccoli, spinach, celery, lettuce, kale, choi and radish with caulis and b/sprouts on the way. Onions, choi, radish and kale going to seed.
Garlic is disappointing as they're not bulbing up, shame we use much garlic. Shallots on the other hand are out of control!
Recieved the fair dinkum seeds and they threw in some freebies on top of the 1/2 price ones so pretty happy with that. I was of the understanding that the cost of bringing seeds into WA had risen due to inspection fees but this was not the case this time.

Oh yeah the fish are going ok too.
