In preparation for ramping up my AP activities I'm going to do an upgrade of my BYAP system.

I've got to produce some plants for a trade show in October so I'm planning to install the DWC tank that I originally intended to grow them in. To support this expansion I want to expand my water storage capacity because I'm worried I'll run out of water in the summer especially if I have more growing area from the new DWC tank.

I've got two 3m wide 1.5m deep corrugated tank shells/rims which I can line to use as water storage tanks.

I'm thinking of buying a roll of EPDM that I could cut into two 6m lengths one for each tank. How do I go about shaping the square liner into the cylinder of the tank shell?

I know this is possible but is there a knack or technique? Is this a bad idea? Or is there a better idea?

Would a bituminous coating be easier?
Otherwise folding something like this would be needed and it looks a bit tedious, would be cool though.

Yes a bituminous coating would be easier but there is no bottom in either of these tanks they are just rims.

Yes something like that was what I had in mind if I went down that track but easier to do on a small scale harder to do with a 7.5m wide liner.

I'm hoping to hear from someone who had done it before who say "NO don't do it" or "no worries man, its easy".

A cheaper option might be concreting the base of the tank, painting it with pond liner. 12m of 7m wide pond liner sounds expensive as hell.

The pond liner will always be crinkling against the edges, no matter how perfect you get it.

Is it to grow fish in, or to just be a water tank?

Water storage only in its current location but maybe FTs at my new location (TBD)

Concrete is out because I have to move it in a year or two.

Beyond cutting a single long length for the sides and a circle for the base then rewelding it all together i dont think you will get a neat job, liner always requires many folds, even in a square bed, round will be many times worse.

If it's only for water storage would it need to be neat? Couldn't you just lay it in and slowly fill it while pulling it tight like you would in a pond?
Is it going to be clean water or will there be solids etc in there?

The guys who sell LDPE (jaylon) will cut and weld it into shape, probably a lot cheaper than EPDM.

No it doesn't have to be neat but it would be nicer if it was.

You could just put a lid on it, a nice neat lid

Not cheap, but you're filling a 10000L tank.
