Are you human?: Some times I wonder

Not bad for winter strawberries from CT.
I wonder if you could harvest some of their berry seeds and try them out?

By the way do you have salt in your system?

These things spread like crazy from the runners so I haven't had the need to tru to do anything with the seeds.

There's basically no salt in the system. The last time I added a touch of salt in my old system, the strawberries reacted very poorly!

When I first started I had strawberries and had to treat the fish with salt and killed all my strawberries. I have some in the dirt but not in the AP system now. I am wondering if you can do a little salt and not harm the berries. I would like to put some in again. I think I will. I sure like strawberries.

My strawberries have done really well… but it's the aphids and ants that love them as much as I do that have been my problem in the past

Some highlights of our open house over the weekend. We had a great time and special thanks to everyone that attended!

I did a little experiment with adding some air stones to our DWC bed. Read through the comments in the video - there's already a lot of debate if it's the air that helps the plants or if it's just the water movement. What do you think?

I had the opposite results when I did a similar test. Yours is very different.

I don't suppose you know the DO levels of your system?

I don't have a DO meter. I'm hoping to get my hands on one in the next week or so.

Let us know how you go.

I've been bugging the guy who runs the big aquaponic system in the UAE, they've got huge amounts of rafts, and no oxygen under the rafts. He said the bubbles can harm the fine hairs on the roots, and not needed in most smaller DWC system. As long as the water is saturated in oxygen. The bubbles also help to dislodge any solids that make their way to the roots of a unfiltered (or badly filtered) system.

no video about the potato tower yet. I just mentioned I was growing one in one of my past videos. (BTW, I don't always remember to post videos here so you may want to make sure you're subscribed to my YouTube channel, or at least send me your email and I'll add you to our newsletter)

I will probably film the potato tower tomorrow, but I'm not overly excited about how well it produced......
