From somewhere in the dim recesses of my memory I hear a quote, something like: "Rule number one: no whinge'ing!" Where does that come from? Just popped into my brain but I can't remember where it is from. Might even be confusing two quotes at the same time. It is fun here in my mind, you should visit some time. :-)

PJ I hope you do enjoy those fish. I am off to Kiwiland in two weeks time and so far it looks like my only options are goldfish?!?!? What the....?

:laughing3:

That is funny. I hear the Kiwis like their extreme sports.

I know there is some of the best trout fishing in the world in NZ (can't wait to have a go) but I have checked and it is extremely hard to get approval to keep any of the native fish in a tank on your property. I hope I'm wrong but that is what I have read so far.

Thanks, Dr Bee. I think that as well as feeding on algae and insects, these SP have been snacking on the yabbies that inhabit the pond. It is fair to say that they didn't achieve their good growth by relying on me to regularly throw them a feed of pellets.

I agree, fantastic specimens PJL. Out of interest, do you feed your dam yabbies lupins?

Thanks, Charlie. I did feed them (cracked) lupins, as suggested by Santalum a while back, on another thread I think. I threw a big handful of lupins in there just this afternoon.

The yabby numbers have reduced over time, especially in the last few months, and there I was thinking that the birds were cleaning them out!

Now that I see a pic I actually recognise it. Did not know the name.

Thanks Ben.

I am reasonably happy with how my AP vegies are performing.

Here are some examples:
