Yes, they sometimes like to munch on plants at night. I had some problems with them on soy beans this year. First year this has ever happened. You'd go out after dark and they be all over the plants nibbling at the leaves (20 or 30 per plant). I think it's more of a problem when the plants are near a compost pile, and there isn't much food for them. Normally I don't feel the need to control them because any damage they do is light. This year I didn't go far enough with manual removal during the evening so I lost some of the beans.
