Charlie used to work in Kalgoorlie, in the mining industry. I don't think just because he moved to NSW he has turned into an utter wimp; yet.

Can't see any reason not to use a used septic tank as a fish tank or a sump tank once it's vacuumed out and given a hit with the water blaster and some disinfectant.
A liner of some sort, plastic or what have you makes good spence but they are built to hold liquids to a point, I'm sure they have a base in them, all the ones I've worked on have, but that was in NZ 25 years ago.
