A salinity meter is very handy in my experience, no need to guess at the concentration. 3ppt should help with your current NO2 levels, any sign of distresss with the M. Cod?

They are fine. Well still recovering from the ICH, but I haven't lost any for almost 2 weeks.

Strawberries are still going well. I thought they'd die off.

I might have to buy a salinity meter off ebay.

I'd swap you some peas for some brussel sprouts.

As an apprentice chef, I spent way too much of my life shelling peas. I like the fresh taste, just not the effort involved. That's why I grow snow peas. :D

I have snow peas and sugar snaps.

Brussel sprouts are all the rage in our restaurants over here.

They are all the rage because they are cheap, mostly because there wasn't much of a demand for them. Like lamb shanks, they used to be dog food, until chefs could buy them cheap and sell them off.

I found one of the Murray cod dead in the pump. It was stuck underneath it, so I missed it. Seems to have been there a while.

Good news is that the nitrites are going down. I think it's safe enough now.

Yeah it's you cheffy buggers who always turn the best kept secrets into the next best thing and then make them cost a fortune! :upset:

Lol, just kidding (sort of, hehe) :D

Well I discovered that araldite is not up to scratch to hold a few bolts to the bottom of the tank, so my new pipe didn't last for very long. So I've shoved a 90mm pipe into the bottom temporarily to slow the murray cod from getting into the goldfish tank. They stick to the bottom of the tank, so it should be alright for a little while.

Also, the RFF I've now got the pump in isn't big enough by far. I'm getting about a day out of it before it needs to be refilled. A little annoying, but only temporary. I've pulled out the bells, so hopefully I should get a little longer out of it before it needs to be refilled.

But on a plus side, the Murray cod are eating far better when they can't hide in the tank. A stack of them huddle in the corner, but a good portion are spread over the bottom of the tank, and skatter around when I look in. But I'm putting in the same amount of food as I did before, and there is none left, when usually I need to scoop it out. I might up it a little, get them to put some weight on.
