Hi

Been busy studying how to set up our system and working on what would be the best way to do this.Been up late just to do my homework on this.

We try to grow our own veggies half of my front garden is raised garden beds (we have 4 approximately 6metres long by 1.2metres wide beds) but looking at setting up our own aquaponics as well. Somehow i think this would work better than our raised beds.

Question that i wish to raise: we have 2 areas that we can set up at least 2 in each section. First area it could take easily do 2IBC systems(with a possible of more) would it be easier if we had a sump or not(wondering if the flood/drain system would do us . start easy before taking the plunge with the sump) also we want to have strawberries growing in downpipes that go across the back fence would this work?

The other system i am wondering if we just have as growing tanks for the fish/yabbies because of the placement in the yard it has more shade than sun. We have a pergola and neighbour has his shed there the location is on the northern side of our house block. it can get sunlight during summer but as much in winter.

Love to hear your feedback.
Karen

Welcome to the forum Karen.

With the sump. If you've just got one GB above the FT, then I wouldn't bother with the sump, any more than that, and it starts to drain more of the FT to fill up both GB's. Keeping a sump allows you to keep the fish tank water level.

Have a look at the IBC of Aquaponics at the top of this page, it should give you some ideas.
