Might be difficult with that big pool, but keeping the light out seems so sort algae out pretty quick.

It depends on the fish with them eating the roots.

I'd say with your water quantity vs fish, the nutrients are too diluted for it to show up on the test. Nothing to worry about.

With the size of the pool open to sunlight, I think you'll always have algae issues. Get some sort of shade cloth over it, or move the tank to a shaded area? Or power it with pleco's (no idea how many of them it'd take to combat that much surface area though).

So I haven't posted in a while been pretty busy. Did attempt to put a shade cloth over my tank looks dodge but covers half of it. Algae has settled down. Going to try a simple raft I made in my ft. Have some seedling spinach hoping it doesn't die. the fish are still just the guppies and rainbow fry. but going to try get to the dam to catch some sleepy cod and some red claw.

So I scored today went to the dump shop and got two half ibcs for $25 each. Previously used in aquaponics but will still give them a good clean.

Good stuff on the ibc's .
With only the rainbows and other little baitfish in the pool I wouldn't be worried about them eating the roots below a raft and the benefits of the shade on the Algae would be well worth the effort I think.
Just my 2 cents, humble and uneducated as they may be

Watch out for the gum leaves in the water
They have a toxin in them that limits other plant growth.
I think earth bound found this out in one of their commercial sized experimental systems.
