Thanks for the feedback folks. I've no idea how they will go long term, but I wasn't expecting anything even indicating a carrot like root when I pulled it out so maybe I'm a teeny bit more hopefully they'll work. So many things can go wrong though so I'll just keep an eye on it and update when anything changes or progresses.

Carrot tubes for the win I say!
I didn't think I'd bother with carrots but now I think I will. Thanks for the tip Azira.
I'm more than hopeful, I reckon you've cracked the secret. :thumbright:

You are a bit more optimistic than me Bodgy, but I'd be chuffed if it actually works! I just have to make sure I don't let my curiosity get the better of me and just leave them alone to do their thing, lol.

On a completely unrelated AP note, I'm all excited and have to share, lol. I finally found some sorghum grain to experiment with making mini 'popcorn' and I'm happy to say it worked! Smallest bag I could find was a 20kg sack though, so I'm going to be drowning in popped sorghum soon enough, lol.

Hehe, I've already signed my sisters up for a few kg each, that's a little less I have to deal with. My dad thinks I'm crazy for even trying it, he has always known sorghum as horse feed. :D

I'm going to experiment with making my own flavoured powders to coat them with, salt & vinegar, roast chicken, cheese, wasabi, Sriracha, coating them in chocolate, caramel..ooh the flavours, muahahaha!

So it turns out you were right, the weird not-Romanesco appears to be a turnip! I went through my box of seeds and the snowball turnips were still sealed, but the purple-top turnip packet was opened, so somehow one made it's way into the jiffypot I sprouted the seedlings in. Good to know it's not just a weed!

Our family favorite flavour for popcorn was curry.

just add a tablespoon of curry powder to the oil.
