I have a new skill to add...

I can sharpen an 8$ pocket knife so I can shave with it.

I changed the entire profile (from concave to straight) then created the edge with nothing but a diamond steel and a few weeks with nothing better to do.

My fingers hurt.

I'm really proud of myself because I've been trying for a while now.

I'm running out of demo arm hair and, as you might imagine, also running out of feigned interest from Mrs Bullwinkle.

And I'm having flashbacks to the time I got my first siphon to work. Look [Mrs Bullwinkle], it starts all by itself! Want to see it again?

Now you need to do it with an axe. The sharpening bit is easier the shaving bit not so much.

In a recent chainsaw shaving incident, an almost hairless man was found bleeding and frowning in front of his computer.

Quite interesting topic. Interesting and diverse group of folks here. Guess it's time I added mine. Main method of supporting my family for 35+ years was in the jewelry business. Bought, sold, repaired, and designed the stuff. From to simple repairs to custom design, everything was done as much in-house as I had equipment and know-how to do. Don't remember exactly when or why, but one day I decided I'd had enough, it wasn't fun anymore. Now I'm in the transportation/trucking industry driving a pilot truck escorting oversize loads anywhere across the country they need to go. Telling someone you're an escort and getting their reaction - priceless.

I do have one question, though........ how and why does one shave a chainsaw?

Once you start dressing your chainsaw in flannels, it is a slippery slope from there.

I owned a decorative concrete company for 10years till my back couldn't do it (currently in the middle of a 3 month vacation due to back surgery).
I poured foundations and flatwork before that.
I have spent a good amount of time in a cabinet shop as well.

I got one of my Japanese carpentry axes to a razors edge and it shaved hair very, very nicely but it was so heavy it was very scary to use (as a razor)

Those toes could use a shave...

Publican by trade, currently in process of buying a cafe to work for myself for first time ever. Been in pub game for 12+ years. Will be incorporating some Aquaponics into cafe, more as a point of interest, but as well as this supplement some basics (once I get better at the growing thing!). Should have keys in the next two weeks!

Did a uni degree in business management majoring in HR, don't think I remember a thing ahaha.

In terms of personal life, I've always grown herbs for work, and always kept fish tanks, hence my excitement when I found Aquaponics! Have a dog who weighs 57kg, but it's all overgrown puppy love (even those he's three years old), love coaching and/or playing rugby union, but unfortunately struggle working hospitality. Am a big fan of anything food related, especially anything sustainable (whilst I'm not a greenie in the bad sense of the word, I believe in doing my part). I like fishing, but aren't very good at it.

I'm single, so Minister of Finance is my bank account balance, and aquaponics often leads to me eating leftovers or mish-mash food as any leftover goes to my hobby ahaha.

The list is long but never endless in jobs I have done so far, patio erector, baker, pastry cook, ceiling moulder, quality verifier, cable winder, wildflower picker, yes that a job, back in 1989 it paid $300 per day! Plasterer, bricklayer, carpenters TA, electricians TA bookkeeper, purchasing officer, storeman, forklift operator, truck driver, loader driver, machine operator the manufacturing kind various jobs to many to name, welder, now I work for a council, driving trucks, boring, but my best job was when I first got my licence 3 days after to be accurate, I was to deliver wine, and glasses and everything that hotels and nightclubs required in the metropolitan area, which made me the mate of all mates, as I could get free entry at most clubs and I new where every club or pub was without looking at a map book!
