My eggplant look that good. My zucchinni...not so much. Couldn't keep the powdery mildew from killing leaves after the recent series of rain. Still haven't tried a Summer lettuce. Let me know Ryan if you want to sell some Koi. Think I'm going to add some and possibly expand this Fall.

Hi Ryan, like many before you I bow to your amazingness! I'm knew at this but guys like you make it amazing! I'm in hospitality and want to incorporate it into my business, so there is many ways to attack it. Love your growth and photos and will await the more to come with baited breaths!

Thanks Casey!

And thanks back up O2 system! Got a direct lightning strike last night, 7 hrs no power, blew the capacitor on my well pump. Good news? No dead fish (and I'm currently holding close to a ton)!

Let this be yet another warning to any readers of this thread... It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when! Ive had 2 lightning strikes and a tornado in a year...what will mother earth serve up to you?

Just got back from refilling my O2 tanks.

Ryan,
Can you give us a little overview of how your backup oxygen system is setup?

The orientation is O2 cylinder with regulator>pure O2 solenoid> flow meter manifold> ultra fine pore ceramic diffusers. When the power goes out, the solenoid opens and delivers oxygen to the tanks. When power is restored, the solenoid closes and the blower takes over.

I also have a back up generator but it's not an auto start so no good if someones not here. It also wouldn't start... Farm life

Sounds like you diverted a major disaster. Great planning. I have battery back up on my FT's now...hopefully it would work in a power outage. Generator is like yours...only works if someone's here to start it. My system is at my nursery, which is also my home- making things a bit easier.

I've got enough bottled O2 to last a few days but I also use it to bag/sell fish. If you are going to set one up for yourself I would at minimum have enough to get you through 8 hrs.

Sounds like a good plan Chris.!

Don't let anyone tell you that lightning doesn't strike twice because I had another hit two days ago that put us out for 1.5 hrs. Just after a storm, walking out to auger some fencepost holes and out of nowhere it struck the powerline and made it bounce. I'm getting to know the power service techs... At least they know I keep fish and always hurry to get it back on.

August is here and we have about 1 more month of hellish heat and we will be back to a tolerable temp.

Sounds beautiful Jay! My wife and I can't wait to visit Australia! I think it will happen in the next year or two.

Lmao joblow, as soon as you get comfortable with the weather, it gives you a wake up call :)

Just harvested 520lbs of tilapia (big boys!!) and they have been moved out if the fish building and into an outside holding tank. Going to start purging them 30lbs at a time and selling to a local restaurant.

I'm heading to Virgina this week to speak at the int'l recirc aquaculture conference but will be back late Sunday night. I'll try to get some recent pictures up here soon!

Hope everyone is doing good!

 Time to make another sacrifice to Zog Ryan.

Glad everything is OK. If you feel your hair stand on end, hit the dirt.
