Are you human?: Any alternatives?
Location: Adelaide Hills, South Australia
Hi everyone,

I have just stumbled across this idea and I am planning my first system. We recently purchased a small holding in the Adelaide Hills. We are looking to make ourselves partially self sufficient by running a small flock of sheep (5-8) for meat and wool, a couple of goats for milk - (making our own cheese as well), and chickens.

To this end I have recently obtained two IBCs and three 240l plastic barrels to be the start of an aquaponics system. Inspired by Rob's Bits out the Back youtube chanel I am researching madly prior to commencing a first expandable system.

At this stage I have one IBC for the fish, which I think will be Silver Perch, another IBC will be one large grow bed and sump. I hope to one day have yabbies/marin in there too. I am planning to use one barrel for a radial flow filter, a second for a biofilter, and a third one two probably make a couple of smaller grow beds.

I am sure I will be asking plenty of questions,

Cheers

Martin

My first day working on the system tomorrow..... (working more that 6days a week ATM). Hope to have some more ideas and possibly some plans by then.
I will then start a thread in members systems.

Welcome to the addictive world of aquaponics Martin.

Great to see another South Aussie getting involved.

Enjoy and fire any questions you may have to the knowledgable people on here.

Cheers.
I have started a thread for my build (Beau-mont Farm thread). Hoping to get plan finalized and questions answered so I can seriously start building.
