Id hit them with 15ppt for a couple of weeks as they can handle the extra salinity no problems. Many bacterial and fungal diseases need a salinty of of at least 15ppt to knock em out. The high salinity short term bath treatments are generally used where the fish cant handle long term exposure to salt at that level, ie Silver Perch.

Yep, 1ppt is suffice but I run 3ppt. Most hatcheries run about 3ppt so I chose to do similar, it can give some plants grief though. There are some good threads on salinity levels and what benefits those levels have.

I have had the same problem with trout and silver perch, I just salted the system at 3ppm and job don, you can dissolve the salt (pool salt) in a bucket of water and tip it in your fish tank, apparently the quick increase in salinity causes the ich cysts to burst.
sure some plants don't like salt and it may kill things like strawberry's but I think trout are to good not to treat.
trout are fine with high salt by the way up to 35ppm or sea water.

good luck.

It would be great if there were some info on plants to see what level of salt is ok before it becomes a problem, I have broccoli, celery, mint, parsley, boc choi in 4ppt for two weeks now and is doing fine so far.

Warming up your water will speed up the life cycle of ich and once the tomites have no host to attach to they will starve and die.
Returning the fish to your system should be after gradually adjusting the salinity. Especially after a longer period in high levels. I can only speak for trout and have no experience with perch. A sudden change will affect the ability to produce the so important slime coating and other metabolic issues may occur.
You could also use uv sterilisation to kill free floating organisms and prevent a re infection without affecting your bio filtration or plants.
Do you know how your fish got ich?
Do you have earth worms in your beds?

I'm guessing they got ich from introducing a few new fish at different times but it would have thought buying them from woodvale they should have been clean but maybe not the case, yes I have added some earth worms to the beds why is that?

So the UV sterilizer won't effect the bio filter at all even though they claim to kill bacteria
