The water is obviously a lot less clear now thanks to the eddha but it's still easy to see things, the fish don't care and the plants like it so all good.

I need to go and take some more underwater photos/video to see if the fish have grown at all, not that I could probably tell yet. Mr Vertical is still kicking along which has surprised me.

Took some quick video earlier but it's pretty hard to see anything and it's not helped that I didn't hold the camera very still, lol.

I'm liking the carrot trial.
Looks like a good idea, I'll be interested to see how they go.
Keep us in the loop!

Things are plodding along, plants are responding well to the iron and the fish are getting bigger, plants are a little bit bigger than the last time I took photos. Temps have dropped to around 10 degrees give or take, but given it's been so chilly overnight it's to be expected.

The two lettuces aren't doing a whole lot so I might just pull them out and plant something more interesting, not sure yet.

It's weird seeing the difference between the Romanesco seedlings planted at the front of the GB, they all came from the same seed packet, it'll be funny if it turns out the two small ones are something else.

And a couple of very dark, shaky and very red videos of the trout swimming around (the water isn't that dark in person).

I do have some seeds of those but they are still sealed in their packets. It'll be funny if it turns out I've just been tending to a weed, lol. It did start out looking much like the other two when it was got it's first set of proper leaves after the cotyledons, but as it grew more there was an obvious difference. I'll find out eventually just exactly what they are I'm sure, lol.

I forgot I also took some photos of the furshes so I might as well add them for the hell of it too.

It's weird the small fish are just that much smaller than the others, they are usually the first ones too the food when I throw it in.

Could be. Now I think about it I have to check out what the other Romanesco seedlings I sprouted at the same time are doing, I gave them to a friend to grow in ground. It'd be interesting to see how different/similar they look.

Yup, he doesn't seem to have any issues feeding or darting around the tank, it's just he can't idle in the tank horizontally like normal. I'm kind of surprised he is still alive to be honest. I didn't think he'd make it this long, but he seems to be growing and doing alright despite his verticality.

A little update on the carrot tube experiment. I pulled the plants from the tubes today and there are a lot of fine roots which I was expecting, but to my surprise there does seem to be a bigger somewhat carroty shaped root forming in all three tubes.

No idea how it's all going to progress but it's a bit more than I was expecting to see, that said I am not getting my hopes up as anything can happen!

And in other news, the growbeds should be getting full sun for most of the day in summer now (instead of dappled for most of the morning) since a large overhanging branch from the big tree next door got removed this morning. It hadn't posed a problem over winter except for the fact it started to split away from the tree itself, there wasn't going to be much fence left if it had dropped. I'm relieved, I can actually go into the backyard again now it's gone, lol.
