I like the idea with the ash. It seems to make sense.

Does it raise the PH up by much?

Good website cookie. I do have to wonder about the heavy metals and arsenic in the wood ash. It's less than many fertilizers though. On the other hand, some of the levels are higher than EPA action levels for drinking water. To add to the confusion much higher levels in regular fertilizers aren't considered to be a risk :?. Maybe it's the form these are in that makes them safe :dontknow: .

I knew that thiz information would of flag some alarms.. but thats why I stressed on what type of wood u used.. obviously if the tree grew in a highly polluted area there will be higher contaminants within to tree compared to one that grew in the rain forest.. the source of the wood is the key.. also the area it was burnt in can lead to cross contamination as well.. luckily where I live being the Caribbean we don't hada worry about these pollutants.. and even greater advantage is that my family business is timber sales so getting scraps to burn on the spot is quite easy for me... so I stress on the type of wood burnt will directly affect the purity of the end product..

There are also wood that are chemically treated to resist rotting anf pests.. burning these can also lead to pollutants.... starting the fire with accelerant will lead to residue in the ashes... there is alot of factors but normally if u create the ash personally u basically factor out all the variable..

That makes sense cookie. I'll probably stick to something with a known analysis, given that I have the option here and it's tough to know where and how a particular tree was grown.

Think I get it but not sure.
