I've had mine running without a hitch for some time now. I've come home to it gurgling a few times, and it still keeps on puttering along.

I like the fact it uses far less than watts than other pumps for the equivalent amount of water being pushed through.

ive read on another forum of a guy who tested his and said it used a little less wattage than advertised but was quite a bit weaker too.

http://koi2day.com/forum/index.php?PHPS ... 9#msg53959

Cant find it now, but im sure i read one who said it used double the power and pushed less water than advertised too.

I'm sure they've got different types of pumps under the one brand.

I did some research on my pump before I bought it.
Just comparing a few randoms on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-5000LPH- ... 27e393250e

That one uses 120W to run. It's got a higher head height, and might push more at the limits.

But in comparison to the Jebago equivelant:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Jebao-CM ... 5af1533191

It uses 40W to run, the outright price is far higher, but the running costs is a quarter of the other pump.

Time will tell if it's as reliable at the 2 year point, but so far so good.

Funding has been an issue - we are going with a minimal system for 6 months and expanding in 2015.

200$ initially and adding to it as we build it.

1 IBC fishtank
4 1/2 IBC growbeds
2 1/2 IBC sumps

120$

Pump - my sump pump
fittings - mine from home
Uniseals - will purchase
fish - 30-45 fish trout - next semester
Rocks - scoria 100$? ??

:(

Will be fun though

If nothing else comes up, maybe could use heater tray as a seed sprouter? just like people use with soil.
i imagine that was its original use?

Cleaned out 2x growbeds and 1x fishtank this morning. scourer and dishwashing liquid with hot water through the hose.

Still trying to figure out how to support growbeds with minimal cost.
Sleepers seems to be the cheapest option.
this is taking into account that I don't want spend to too much money on 1/2 IBC sumps - rather have a small amount and more growbeds.

I'm sure these were cheaper at the plumbing supplies - every other fitting is 1-2$

yeah plumbing supplies was way cheaper!!!

Here is the progress:

Will this work for stands? or should I use wooden supports underneath? The pump and sumps will go below
