Hi all,

Been searching threads and reading member system builds....and rarely does anyone mention where they get their hardware components from...

If this thread is allowed, care to share where you get your best prices from / online shops? I'm not a fan of the green B or blue M if I can avoid them.

I have found/used in the past for aquariums:

- duralirrigation for PVC fittings
- wetearth for ball valves and more random 'bits'
- abstract plastics for uniseals
- creative pumps for pumps

Still looking for a supplier of air pumps (piston type, not membrane).

Being in Canberra, the local trade shops take you for a ride as soon as they see you walk through the door so usually buy things online..

Thanks in advance!

They think you're either a politician or work for the government :notworthy:

I've found with plumbing fittings some are cheaper at Bunnings and others cheaper at a plumbing wholesalers.

PVC Pipe - Wholesaler
PVC Ball Valves - Wholesaler
PVC Pipe Fittings - Bunnings
PVC Tank Fittings - Bunnings

Each wholesaler is different, prices in different areas vary so it would be hard too document the prices, my local plumbing suppler sells 15mm PVC Ball valves for $2.60 (below), anywhere else they're $8 - $10, but their 90mm elbows & T's are twice the price of Bunnings, their PVC pipe cheaper, their 25mm tank fittings are dearer at $34, so it's just a matter of shopping around.

I hang onto the receipts so when I'm I'm looking for a particular fitting I know who is the cheaper suppler and go there. I basically know where to go for what I need now, pump, air pumps etc. I Google and then compare prices on eBay, and then decide where to buy.

I get almost everything from Lowe's but for specialty items like Uniseals and capillary matting I order it from TCLynx, she ships fast! Some things like air pumps and other bulk materials from Amazon. Pond liner from Webb's Online.

Is this the place Eric?

http://www.aussieglobe.com/bulkheads.html

Really good bulkhead prices as well :headbang: - about a third of what I would have to pay for the same kind of 1" bulkhead from the local fish store. Good find :thumbright:
