In my defence, she was pretty crazy :)

It's those long winters that do it. We are in winter now in Adelaide and today was partly cloudy with a max of 19c (66f) with just the right amount of breeze to keep a windmill ticking along. In short, a perfect day for doing just about anything.

That video showed someone putting her dough outside because it was 20c cooler than her deep freezer.

I might introduce BYAP to her, and see if we can get her into building an aquaponics system in a glass house :)

The one good thing about having an inspection every three months is that it's a bit like having a mum (mom) overloard, and for at least a few weeks a year, your room is tidy and all your washing's up to date. :)

Youth is wasted on the wasted :)

I just watched that video again because I needed cheering up, and noticed that it was part 5 of how to make troopwaffels

part 5

Yep...

That did it :)

I hope that person in that video would be happy for me to be calling her crazy. I say that in the most complementary way. I'd hate to think she might get all insulted all over the shop.

It seems I've settled into this thread for the (coughsinglemalt) evening.

For those of you that were not concentrating or have actual lives to attend to (pity me :) ) ....

The "*" in "I*ve" is worth noting.

In my signature the word Ulnar refers to the Ulnar nerve which I'm pretty sure is responsible for the "funny bone effect" of smacking your elbow into something. I guess an equally correct interpretation is that it is indeed not even slightly funny when you do it.

The last name in my signature Distinendae is Latin (according to google translate) for "diversion".

So I guess the theme of the post was "Funny diversion."

I guess

Here on the Pacific edge of the continent, we generally have pretty mild winters. One year since we've lived up here, it never even got below freezing. Although every few years, just to stay in practice, we have a nice ice/snow storm that shuts things down for a day or two.

I miss snow days. What surprised me was that even when I was working, I still got snow days. I lived in Port Orchard, but worked in Tacoma. That meant driving across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. It closed when it snowed, so my boss would send me home before that happened. For those of you that took physics, or engineering, the bridge I refer to is the one that replaced the "Galloping Gerty." Sympathy is great, sympathetic waves will destroy a bridge.

If that's the bridge I think it is, that thing was amazing.

In an "oops" kind of way.

oh cool.

These last few days I've been reading up on rocket heaters, and I always just figured that christmas tree you had "growing" in your yard was all about long winters.

In my mind, rocket heated grow houses, long winters, and very slow growing christmas trees all seemed to be connected :)

Quarterly inspections....that's gotta suck.

Speaking of mothers in laws....should MIL be capitalized?.....mine tells me I'm her favorite son in law....there it is again!...but I think it's because I'm married to her only daughter.

OTOH....does that need periods?.... that women is nothing like her.

P.S I relieved your a man and that Mrs B isn't....good for you.

Sometimes it is good to go back and look at your posts, see how you have grown. Reflect back on the times when it was all new...

Sometimes it becomes potential energy. Say for instance you used your engine to roll a car up hill and parked it with the brake on... if you take the brake off the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy...

Same thing if you pump water uphill.

Yes, but potential energy must become kinetic eventually. So all you are doing in that regard is storing it. But like a battery, it can only last so long, before either the vessel fails, or the energy leaks out.

And in the car analogy that would be when the brakes rusted closed?
