Rob that is bad ass! Did that come from the gulf?

Israel, I am near Lake Fork

I got drunk earlier and made a video for youtube, but cant get it to load on this slow internet at home. Probably going to have to wait till tomorrow

Nitrates are still high

I'm not going to try to fool with PH yet..... pretty good growth so far

Yeah wait with the pH adjusting, as you are feeding a lot at the moment (isn't that what you said?) and with high feed rates and lots of ammonia as a result, then being broken down to Nitrites and Nitrates the pH will naturally creep down

This one did not come from the Gulf it was caught in Prince Edward Island, Canada. My friends have hooked and caught a few here out of Freeport but the season is closed because the Gulf is their spawning ground so all released.

Well yesterday was fun.

Big storm came through and knocked out the power. When the power came back on, the pump in the sump didnt come back on until I took it out and beat it against the side of the tank, so the sump tank over filled, loosing about 30% of my water. It's a flaw in my design. The pump is under warranty, but I went a head and just ordered another. I will deal with that later, it has done this to me before.

After repairing that I realize all the toms need to be trimmed before they rip open the shade cloth. I then realize another flaw in my design. Not being able to reach the back of the grow beds. I used to just get up on top of them, but the toms have grown so much that I cant reach back there through them. Going to have to get some shears to reach those.

I then realized the amount of toms I have growing. Heck, I dont even eat that many tomatoes lol. I decided to pull the 7 ft long cherry tom that I started from seed and chunk it, cause it has never produced anything.

Well of course soon as I pulled and untangled it I noticed this.

There was to much to try to put back so I just cut it at the base and replanted the root ball. See what happens

Other than that, fun after noon

Well a all natural meal minus the little carrot and bun. Both store bought

Pulled pork sandwich from wild hog, cole slaw from cabbage and onions grown here, plus store carrot.

On another note, I like a little fire with dinner. This is my first jap from AP, and DAMN it was fire hot.

I ate two bites. Called it quits and wrapped it up to mess with a coworker tomorrow

I'm really into spicy foods, but not sure how ap does with spicy things. You are calling the jap hot make them seem like hotter than normal.

I grew a few different types of chills in my AP system in the first 6 months.. but pulled them out as we had a few in the garden as well… seemed to do really well and mine were quite pest resistant compared to some of the other things I grew.

Yes, compared to my outdoor garden and store bought they were extremely hotter. I eat a jalapeno with almost every meal, especially fried foods. But this one was to much for me

Saying that, I don't remember what kind of jalapeno I planted.

Little photo update. Wanted to use FT overflow for something constructive. So against better judgment I added a lemon tree.

Not like it was a big expense, we will see what happens. If it fails I can plant whatever in the pot, I have been pretty lucky so far with AP (knock on wood), main problem being to much growth. So we will see what happens.

Its not the prettiest thing, constant flow, but hell it might work

Onions are about done, need to figure out something else to plant. Maybe herbs

On a second note, found a couple gems at the nursery. GHOST PEPPERS!

These will come in handy, in the annual pepper challenge :)

One in the middle

Everything else is growing well

BUT! Then I noticed a bunch of my pepper leaves have been completely eaten off the plant. I could tell by the scat it was the same bug eating them on my outdoor potato plants. I dont know what they are called, they look like an orange beetle.

Well I looked and looked for it, but couldnt find it. But I maybe this is why...... I dont know if he came from the 7 eggs I have in the GH or a friendly outdoor guest. He can stay as long as he wants.

On a side note. I had mentioned before that on my celebrity tomato plants if I cut the tops off they start growing new branches and flowering at the bottom again. Romas dont seem to do it though

It could be the celebrities are hybrids IDK, What was the water level in the gutter onions? Did the bulbs turn mushy. All mine turned mushy and fizzled out. It was the first time I tried them. I was thinking the gutter system would work if you could trickle the water at the bottom after the roots were established deep and keep all the media dry around the bulbs.

That is basically how it works, very slow trickle running in the gutter system. I guess you could say it was a semi success, they all bulbed to golf ball size, but fizzled out after that. Was hoping for those baseball sized ones.

The ones in the GB I planted at the same time havent put on any size at all.

I added another fan today and finally got a thermometer. It is currently staying 7-8* cooler inside the GH than outside. So I guess that high dollar shade cloth is working.

We will see if it offers reverse results in the winter as promised.

Oh yea, guess I need to catch some fish tomorrow to prove a point :)

Pulled all the onion in the gutter system last night, they cleaned up nice. Kind of small but tasted great!
