I checked the cucumber vines today and there are about 6 or 7 flowers already! :shock: - this plant is in one big hurry!

Accidental - these seeds germinated on their own from a cucumber I left to one side in order to harves its seeds (then I forgot about it :oops: )

Nice looking plan AM - mine has it's first flowers on it now, both male and female. The bush is tiny compared to yours.

will have to do a check tomorrow to see if there are both and how many of each... I have always just left nature to do its thing and not bothered to look closely at the flowers :)

VB, sorry to contradict you, but it is the female flowers that have a miniature cuke behind the flower. I believe first flowering will usually be male. After fertilization, the female flower dries up, and the miniature cuke starts growing. This also applies for squash. If you have an excess of male squash blossoms, they can be battered and fried.

No lewd imagery intended. ;)

You may be right AM. When the fruit is not that sort of shape then the mind is on the phallic symbols within the flower itself. I do a lot of hand pollenating of my pumpkins :oops:
