Backyard Aquaponics
A place to discuss aquaponics

Hi everyone, I have been looking online for some sort of aquaponics trade show, exhibition, or conference that I could attend to learn more and even find manufacturers for some of the products and equipment. I am actually pretty new to this but have started a backyard pilot project in Amman, Jordan. I ultimately looking to start a semi-commercial system going. But the lack of information and equipment in Jordan has proven to be a problem.

Anyway, my questions is if anyone out there has attended one of these exhibitions or has any idea where I could get information on one that is coming up soon, please let me know.

Thats a really good idea. Im not sure if one exists yet. Im also not sure if enough people know what it is to support one either. It costs a lot of money to put somthing like that together. They would need a lot of vendors and the vendors aren't going to pay for a booth if they aren't expecting a lot of interested money carrying people.

Yeah I know what you mean. Its just so difficult to find the right equipment and information. At least I have been having a problem doing so, especially since know I meet out here in Jordan has any clue what aquaponics is. Which is crazy since we are a country starved or water resources, forth poorest in the world in terms of that.

Anyway, I guess it might be to early still for such a thing.

Perhaps look at aquaculture conferences, as the aquaculture side is generally more technical.

Inmed is having a conference on aquaponics in Jamaica in September 2014 and all are welcome.

Inmed is a not-for-profit philanthropic organisation that uses aquaponics as a way to improved impoverished peoples lives and help people in general adjust to climate change and produce their own food. It teaches both home sized systems and large commercial sized units.
