Okay today I tested again.
zero ammonia and zero nitrites... . what the..?

Maybe the system is cycling or maybe its that I overfed?
I've cut the feed down and I've put about 8 handfuls of salt in the tanks.
There is some flashing going on.

latest readings
HORAY THE NITRATES ARE BACK!! after a summer of tomatoes and silverperch there wasn't any.
I'm also seeing flashing on the bottom of the tank.
Fish are smashing the feed though

Some deficiency in the Brussel sprouts. (added some chelated iron)

Some deficiency in rhubarb

And look at my cute little tube thingy.
I've found that the outlet is too small - will have to make it better. ATM the in flow is just right and the outflow is just right - a little bit of siphoning action going on

Me and the woman were just talking about bringing out the tube thingy. I think it works good after the media....she likes it before the media.

Before the media can be bad for the roots... Unless it is still after a filter.

My system is going well
A few things going on.

Some flashing - possibly overfeeding or some toxins in the water.
Some aphid problems in the greenhouse but spraying with garlic spray

I had no luck with eggplants, capsicums or cucumbers - I think the tomatoes stole all the nutrients. System is maturing now and there are more fish and bigger.

I'm going to pull tomatoes soon and plant some kale for green smoothies, beetroot, asian greens, lettuce, spring onions, rocket, kohlrabi, broccoli, garlic.

Beetroot was okay but had some issues as was onions and garlic which I planted too low?

This is great

Its funny how things change with these systems, last year I could get Eggplant going at all and was just about to give up.

Now I have 2 plants each producing plenty of fruit even though I have hacked them both back several times :dontknow:

Here is the jumper
It was the gap between the top of the rail and the fish tank bladder - fixed with some camping mat folded in.

Update :)

I've got some red spot on a jade perch - not sure if hes going to make it. Might be ICH as they are occasionally flashing but all the trout look fine. Or it could be some wood oil that's gotten in the system.

Hiya Jay, a couple of questions about your PVC tubes. What media are you using? Is it constant flood? And what are the feed and drain configuration?
Cheers,
Skeg.

Um yeah Jay, I already knew the rest.
I'm looking to add 6mtr of it to one of the systems and am gathering ideas and information.
Any advice would be great, do's and dont's sort of thing.
