What a wonderful pastime AP is. Thanks to all who willing share their experiences and efforts on this forum
I have been inspired to set a system up using 2 IBCs and then went on to add, in accordance with, the Dutch Bucket System.
Some images of my first effort here

Cheers

Here is the Dutch Bucket extension.... one can never have enough :) and some of my lessons over the last 7 months

I will now focus on the upgrade as the third lesson I learnt killed the future of this system
I should have known better too as I love gardening

Lesson 3
Veg need sunlight. I use to use the eastern side of the house to grow azaleas which didnt need a lot. This aspect of the house and the 70% shade cloth was a massive oversight.

I am in the process of fixing that in my next project which I have posted plans for and am asking for advice before I get too far in it here:

Nice setup and growth there Judester, sorry too hear about your fish.

Having salted up 3 weeks before adding the fish should have been all good, your fish must have been well infected before they went in the tank.

Hi Jo

I had never know about ICH prior to buying the SP so I did quite a few hrs researching the subject.
The note on to add salt 3 weeks prior to re introduction of new fish was a note to self following this event

I had moved the barra which were inhabiting the same water to one of my koi ponds (Yes a terrible risk management strategy I now know) they showed an infestation a few weeks later so I then added salt to that pond too.. Koi can only tolerate salt in that concentration for a short period, so it was a stressful few weeks for me. All the barra survived and the koi never showed any infestation.

I am a big believer in quarantine now :)
