Can I ask if anyone has experience as to the number of silver perch fingerlings (5cm) in a single IBC system? I started my system recently and have 9 fingerlings in the FT and wondering if I should not add more fish and maybe thin them out as they get bigger?

It doesn't work like that. Stock to your filtration capacity.

Yeah, I think that's the rule I've seen (read of) people learning the hard way most often. Including myself.
Please read and follow all the good advice in the general section of the forum, and take most of what's said on other sites, re stocking levels, with caution.

Maybe you could paint the treated pine to seal it.. would be better than leaving it as is

I would think so as anything for a marine use is pretty tough

Have you got some spare laying around? The stuff is so expensive it might be cheaper to replace the timber.

Hi all, just an update on my system and some advice on water quality. Help will be much appreciated.
Been running a single IBC system with 9 SP fingerlings and a few plants for 3 weeks now, before adding the fish I cycled the system for a couple of weeks as well. So it's early days yet and the suspense is killing me.
Water has turned green but I'm not going to worry much about that after reader some comments about algae on this forum.
Not sure what to make of water test results though and want to know if I should be concerned with the Nitrate level (and maybe ammonia)?
pH 8.2
Ammonia 0 - 0.25 ppm
Nitrite. 0 ppm
Nitrate. 10 - 20 ppm

Hi Rubber, your levels are good. pH is a little high but that will come down over time, the main thing to keep an eye on is the Ammonia and Nitrite levels (both of which are good). As for the green water it's not a problem so much but if you paint or cover the outsides of your tank and growbed it will help to eliminate any algae growth, having said that when I had the green soup it lasted for around a month to six weeks and then cleared by itself.
