Hi All,

I'v been hanging around the forums & investigating Aquaponics for a while now. Learning as much as I can and planning our first backyard AP system. We've already collected 5 IBCs in preparation.

We're located in South East Victoria, so I'm thinking we'll probably be using Silver Perch in our system.

I'll start another thread, in the appropriate section, to talk about my build. I'm having a bit of a dilemma and would love to get some feedback from those experienced APers.

Thanks for creating a great community. I look forward to contributing & sharing this interesting hobby with you.

Yup....welcome to the forum Grehund.

I'm near Geelong on the coast so I will subscribe to your thread as our climates are likely to be similar.

Hi Grehund,

Your setup looks perfectly workable to me, in fact I'd say I wish I had thought of that, the only thing I would add is an overflow pipe back to the sump from the fish tank.
You'll need a reasonably sized pump probably around the 4000-5000lph mark IMO but others here are better at pump sizing so listen to others for their views as well. You might need to think of a way to remove solids from the feed pipe to the grow beds as over time you may get a build up in the lowest pipe.
Don't forget to post pics as you build, we have a thing about pics :thumbleft:

Thanks HairyCamel (LOL),

Yes, I have been thinking about an overflow, just haven't put one into SketchUp yet.

I was looking at the AP6000DW pump, seems to be the best option, with sufficient head height. Not sure if that will change if we go with the CHIFT PIST design.

Will def post some pics, once I've got something to show. Thanks again.
