Hi concerning the filter ,I plan to let the water dribble in from a small tube ,that way it won't upset the water temperature ,using a separate container .Well the ammonia 0.25 nitrite 0.01 nitrate ,added two tsps. ammonia to increase nitrate levels .How are you doing with your system ,I believe you where building a pipe system ,how are you getting on with your building projects ? Cheers

your last statement didn't make sense - "added 2 tsp of nitrate" ???
You mean you added 2 tsps of ammonia - which then gets converted to nitrite, which then gets converted to nitrate.....

What I was asking about before is how are you getting the rain water from your gutters into the filter bucket.
"dribble in from a small tube" do you mean into your fish tank, or into the top filter bucket from your rainwater pipe>?

I'm a little confused with your writing style

Yeah my projects are going great

Hi the water filter buckets are separate ,as shown on video ,it is a question of using a separate bucket to fill the sub tank ,using a small tube. Rain water I collect from water butt manually ,reason being I cannot clean the gutter owing to adjacent building., or see into the gutter .I added controlled amount of ammonia to increase the nitrate level, to standard required ,if every thing is ok concerning ammonia ,nitrite levels ,then hopefully add fish. .glad you projects are going well.

I find it challenging too. Too much punctuation. It seems like a lot of broken sentences. Perhaps if you did us a small favor and wrote like you learned in school, we would not be so confused.

Well the system is almost cycled, I have nitrates , ammonia and nitrite level very low, added ammonia to build up nitrates. Have acquired a water filter that gives me five gallons of clean water, good for topping up, the filter cost about £15.00 ,so well worth it ,this can be seen on YouTube hopefully this might be of help with larger systems.

So don't add ammonia if you want to get fish soon.

Yes your bucket will be great for collecting rainwater - post a picture when you complete it and how it works with 'your system' as a picture tells a thousand words.

Have not added ammonia , testing for nitrites shows to trace of colour in test tube or nitrates .Not sure whether to add fish or ammonia :?: I will send pictures as requested

did not add ammonia today ,surprized that the nitrate level didn't show when testing ,the amount of ammonia added was no more than two teaspoons full .I am not sure whether that was enough.

How long have you been cycling?

If you have zero ammonia and zero nitrites - then you are cycled and can add fish.
Nitrates - don't worry about them - the plants are probably using them

Hi making a water filter system . Parts arrived today ,so will send pics soon, in the process of making a pipe system that will run along the inside of greenhouse . The system is cycling quite well, plants seem to be doing alright ,ammonia MG/L ,nitrite MG/l  nitrate 0.5ppm ,just adding goldfish slowly half way to stocking density
