I have been doing backyard homesteading for about a year and have been interested in aquaponics for some time. It has always sounded intimidating but I think I plan on starting some here before to long. I guess I am in research mode for now. seems like a great forumn

I am probably like most when getting started. Information overload. Still trying to DE-cipher what route is the best for me.

As of now I believe I am going to build a lean to greenhouse on the side of my garage that gets the best sun.

What I am going to put in it is a big question. The 55 gal barrel system seem like a simple way to start and can be added to as you go?

Still just sorting through some of the options.

Great forum by the way

You can check out my deck system below for GH ideas. For Texas I would make both ends removable/big doors for good airflow and shade cloth. Then start searching for barrels and IBC's or any containers for the best deals. Once you get containers come here and ask for the best configuration.

Bigger containers = less plumbing. Plumbing is the real expense.

THanks.
Ron I kind of thought it was better to start with some size, ecspecially the principle tank. I have a coy pond that would be exterior to the green house so I would think in time it could tie in some how (no clu just speculating).

very interesting setups both of you have. I have been reading some different threads that take people from start to finish and studying for now
