Finally got around to putting my system completely together this past month. All of my fishless cycling was probably wasted since I ended up moving and having to completely disassemble my system for a few days (and the movers actually broke it somehow so had to fix it again).

The system's a flood and drain one on a timer. It goes off for 15 minutes every hour. I assume I have enough water moving around since the fish don't seem starved for oxygen nor are they showing any signs of distress in general.





The grow bed. Currently growing are 2 spider plants and a bunch of little Chinese water spinach plants. They're getting a bit spindly probably from not enough light, thus the lamp though I don't think it helps much.

The plants don't seem to be growing very fast anymore. From what I understand, Chinese water spinach really love nitrogen rich conditions, so hopefully once my system gets cycled it'll be better?



The entire system. Only have 3 little goldfish in there at the moment. Started with 5, but 2 died within 2 days. Thought they were diseased by the other 3 are fine, so I guess I got old fish. Granted, I only paid $10HK for all 5.


Any ideas on how to improve this system would be helpful!

add an aerator, and use a good quality fish food
